Mon Papier is handmade Japanese paper made from kozo (paper mulberry), with small cut-out motifs interconnected to create a sheet of paper. Each sheet of paper features a distinctive pattern, or mon in Japanese, as kozo fibers organically connect the cut-out motifs, forming a single large sheet of washi. Unlike traditional watermarking techniques or laser cutting, this washi produces unique floating effects. The product was collaboratively developed by the boutique washi brand WACCA and Ryozo Yanase Paper Mills of Echizen Washi in the Fukui Prefecture.
